The Danish company Blika has created a hundred new jobs in its plant in the Trebisov industrial park, in eastern Slovakia.
Company Director General Michael Gotfredsen said at a news conference that the company moved to Trebisov its complete production of metal boxes for industry and various production and repair plants, as well as sports facilities, schools and other public buildings. An independent development center will gradually be built in Trebisov, too. "Just a warehouse for customers from Scandinavian countries will remain in Denmark," added Mr. Gotfredsen. Mr. Gotfredsen said that the Trebisov plant is currently in trial operation, which will last for three months. Blika invested around SKK 230 million in the new plant, including costs of moving in. The Trebisov plant should reach annual turnover of approximately EUR 15 million.

The British company Hi-Technology Group (HiTG), Ltd. will open its first subsidiary outside the UK -- Hi-Technology Mouldings Slovakia
-- that will run a new injection moulding plant in Kosice. Group operations director Richard Brown said at a press conference on Tuesday that the group will initially invest GBP 250,000 (approximately SKK 12.3 million). In the next six months, the group will double its investment. The plant will operate on rented modernized manufacturing premises and will employ fifty people, with the perspective of 150 jobs in full operation. The company plans to launch production at the beginning of August. HiTG Group manufactures moulded products of high added value for various sectors, such as maritime transport, healthcare, and the defense industry. Mr. Brown informed that HiTG's annual turnover is about GBP 10.5 million and it has customers in Europe, the U.S.A., China, Japan, and Malaysia. The Slovak subsidiary's turnover could reach GBP 5 million. HiTG Mouldings Slovakia is looking for experts in machine engineering and moulding, as well as management personnel. Mr. Brown said the company would provide training for recruited people and offer salaries in the range of SKK 19,500 to SKK 25,000. The Economic Development Center of U.S. Steel Kosice and the Department of Regional Development of the Kosice self-governing region participated in winning over this investment for Kosice.
