Košice self-governing region as main organizer prepared with the participation of lecturers from EC seminar " Electronization of public administration and utilization of structural funds for development of information society". Except experts, employees of regional and local self-governments also participated in the event.
President of KSR Rudolf Bauer informed at the briefing, that Slovakia got for development of information sociaty for nearest three years 30 millions of ?s , which utilization would depend from the project quality. As president mentioned , KSR had ambition to became a leader in this field.
Grazyna Wojcieszko from the section of e-government of Directorate of information society of EC in her prezentation brought nearer objectives and starting points of electronization of EC for wide utilization of these services and technologies. She emphasized , that Europe needed top public administration supported by e-government.
According to information, which were presented at the seminar, Slovakia was according study of UN from 2002 in the development of e-government on 50. place. While in the highly-developped countries of EU have internet 45-70 % of households , in the Slovak republic it was in 2002 only 3,2 %.
Joseph Buckley from Directorate of regional policy of EC introduced , that EC declared a competition in 2003 for organizations of public administration. From 300 competing projects from Slovakia was only one.
