Zdenko Trebula talked today with both Ambassadors for the first time, since he was elected the President of the Kosice Self-governing Region (KSR).
With British Ambassador, Mrs. Judith Anne Macgregor, he discussed priorities of self-governing region in the second election period, emphasizing opportunities for British investors. The centre of their discussion became the road infrastructure in Eastern Slovakia, which doesn`t meet the quality standards. „Regional development strongly depends on the quality of road infrastructure. We have agreed on it very soon, because of the knowledge of situation of Mrs. Ambassador from her previous visits,“ said President of KSR.
Deepening cooperation with Zakarpattya Region (Ukraine) was the main topic of discussion with Ukrainian Ambassador Mrs. Inna Ohnivets. „Presov Self-governing Region signed the Cooperation Agreement with Zakarpattya partners last year. We would also like to start similar initiative. Development of mutual relationships and cross-border cooperation with this region results from historical contacts. It is natural for our region and we see there also interesting possibilities for our investors, particularly in the field of SMEs,“ said after the meeting Mr. Zdenko Trebula. He proposed to organize together with Ukrainian Embassy a seminar, which could raise interest of entrepreneurs from Kosice Region to do business in Zakarpattya. KSR will participate also in other events, which are the results of cross-border cooperation, and also in Ukrainian Culture Days, which will take place in March 2006.
