Possibility of cooperation of museums and cultural institutions was the main topic of discussion during the meeting of Mr. Rudolf Bauer, President of the Kosice Self-governing Region, and Mr. Jean Yves Marin, Director of the Normandy Museum. Director of the museum, which is seated in French Region Lower Normandy - partner region of KSR, informed President Bauer about using of finantial means from EU Funds to develop museology. Normandy Museum is seated in historical object of Caen Castle, which is in present, thanks to European Funds, under the reconstruction. „In France we have experience that tourism follows the culture and that both areas are in the present time united in one“. During his stay and his visits of museums he wants to specify perspective aims, in which cultural institutions of both regions could participate. Joint projects could apply for finantial means from EU Structural Funds. Rudolf Bauer confirmed interest of KSR to cooperate.
Kosice Self-governing Region has under its competence 22 cultural institutions, five of them are the museums. The biggest one is the East Slovak Museum in Kosice.
Kosice Self-governing Region already cooperates with partner region Lower Normandy in the field of tourism development.
