Commissioner Jan Figel appreciated activities of the Kosice Self-governing Region in the electronisation of public administration

The Kosice Self-governing Region together with the Office of Commissioner Jan Figel prepared the conference focused on trends in the information technologies under the conditions of self-governing bodies and public private partnership. Many prominent experts took part in the conference, which was composed of three blocks of lectures and panel discussions.

Mr. Rudolf Bauer, President of the Kosice Self-governing Region (KSR), presented in his speech an aim to build intelligent region based on three pillars. The first pillar is public service and transparency. The second pillar is enhancing the quality and improving processing with direct influence on the effectiveness of public administration. The third pillar is international integration and interregional cooperation.  Mr. Rudolf Bauer also presented the successful projects of the Kosice Self-governing Region already concluded in the field of electonisation and  mentioned the internet voting system e-vote and the public opinion survey. President Bauer presented the new portal of KSR with new interactive components of e-government, which was launched today. 

Jan Figel, Member of the European Commission, emphasized development of information technologies, which can help the public sector to attain aims of the Lisbon Strategy and to assure dynamic development and high competition in the EU countries. Mr. Figel underlined activities of the European Commission with the aim to dynamize electronisation of public administration. As he said, the majority of European countries adopted this strategy on regional level and it also became the part of governmental programs. „The priority is to base this process on the principle of positive management, preferring openness, transparency and user friendly administration“. At the end of his speech, Mr. Figel appreciated activities of the Kosice Self-governing Region in the electronisation of public administration.
