Forum of the Visegrad Group Regions in Krakow

  The first historic meeting of regional self-governments of the Visegrad Group countries took place in Krakow. Besides the information concerning the use of Visegrad Fund in the field of culture, school system and research, the main topic of  two days negotiations of regional self-government representatives was the Central European regionalism, regional priorities, regional cooperation in culture and the topic „Visegrad Regions – Cooperation or Competition?“.

President of the Kosice Self-governing Region Mr. Rudolf Bauer came up with the speech, in which he emphasized the need of cooperation of participating countries in the Committee of the Regions in Brussels, need of building up and interlinking the high quality motorway network, cooperation in tourism and development of the common database of successful projects.

The closing declaration of the meeting, signed by the participating representatives of the Visegrad regions from Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary, includes mechanism of organizational cooperation, common political consultations, monitoring observatory and festival of the Visegrad culture.

An accompanying activity of the next Forum of the V4 Regions, which will be held in Bratislava next year, will be the cultural festival with parallel events in all Slovak self-governing regions.
